Finally a Mini PC with HX 470 and 8000 MT/s RAM, and the Radeon 890M Flies
Review of the Ace Magic F5A with Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 and 8000 MT/s memory: how much faster the Radeon 890M is and what runs well in games at 1080p.

The Ace Magic F5A is a mini PC built on the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 processor. This is the first review of a configuration with this processor in which the memory runs at 8000 MT/s. Most mini PCs with the HX 470 use SO-DIMM memory with speeds of up to 5600 MT/s.
Integrated graphics (iGPU) in APU-based systems use system memory as video memory. The higher the memory frequency, the higher the iGPU performance. Therefore, the high memory frequency in the F5A has practical significance for graphics.

Design and Ports
Front panel:

Additionally: the chassis features an Oculink port, which provides a faster connection for an external eGPU than USB4.
Storage cooling: a fan is installed in the lower part of the chassis and cools the SSD.
BIOS Settings
- Main menu: there are no additional performance parameters.
- Power configuration: a Power Limit parameter is available. The Performance mode was selected for the tests. A manual mode (Manual) is also available.
- AMD CBS → NBIO Common Options → GFX Configuration: by default, 2 GB of memory is allocated to the iGPU. The author set it to 12 GB, which he considers the optimal value for a system with 32 GB of memory. He noted that users may choose a smaller amount.
- AMD CBS → UMC Common Options → DDR Options → Timing Configuration: this parameter allows the memory frequency to be raised to 8533 MT/s. The tests used the Auto value, which is the default setting.
The author plans to cover memory overclocking and changing the power limit in a separate article.
Synthetic Tests
Geekbench 6 (65 W power limit):
- single-core score: 2696;
- multi-core score: 7194.
According to the author, the results are within the range typical of other systems based on the HX 470.
Geekbench AI: the author expects gains in single-precision and half-precision scores thanks to faster memory. The review does not provide specific results.
3DMark Time Spy (64–65 W power):
- average of 11 tested PCs: about 3692;
- Ace Magic F5A: 4678.
The author reported an overall score increase of just over 17%. According to the author, CPU results do not differ noticeably from other systems, but in some CPU tests, certain PCs with slower memory showed better results. The graphics score is 18.7% higher than that of the PC with 5600 MT/s memory.
Gaming Tests
Spider-Man 2
- Settings: 1080p, High, FSR 4.1 in Quality mode.
- Without FSR at a 65 W power limit, the system delivers up to 60 FPS. To achieve stable performance, quality had to be lowered to Medium and FSR enabled in Performance mode. Even then, drops below 60 FPS are possible.
- According to the author's assessment, FSR frame generation works well on the Radeon 890M iGPU.
Red Dead Redemption 2
- Settings: 1080p, no FSR, mixed Ultra and Medium settings. Texture quality is set to Ultra, and the other parameters are set to Medium.
- The author noted that on a VRR display, the frame rate can be locked at 60 FPS without additional adjustments.
Forza Horizon 6
- Settings: 1080p, Medium, no FSR.
- Average performance is around 71 FPS.
- Compared with a mini PC with slower memory, there is a gain, but it is smaller than expected, at least in this game.
Temperature Regime
- Temperature in games at 65 W TDP ranges from 65 to 73 °C, depending on the game.
- Average APU temperature across all tests: 64 °C.
- Maximum recorded temperature: 78 °C.
Conclusions
According to the author's assessment, the Ace Magic F5A with the HX 470 processor demonstrates high performance. LPDDR5X-8000 memory improves the graphics results. Further gains are possible by overclocking the memory through the BIOS. The author considers the most promising way to increase graphics performance to be connecting an external graphics card via the Oculink port. For this, he plans to use a compact RTX 5060 graphics card in the SFF form factor. The results of such a test are not presented in the review.

BIOS and AMD CBS Setup
BIOS setup: Performance power mode and allocating 12 GB of memory to the iGPU.
- In Advanced, Power Configuration, the Performance mode (TDP 65 W) is selected
- In AMD CBS, NBIO Common Options, GFX Configuration, only 2 GB is allocated to the iGPU by default
- The author chose 12 GB as the optimal option for a 32 GB system
- RAM overclocking is available via UMC Common Options and DDR Options, up to 8533 MT/s; the author left it on Auto
Benchmarks
Synthetic tests showed a gain of about 17% in the overall score and 18.7% in graphics compared to a PC with 5600 MT/s RAM.
