GitHub AI Job Search Tool: A Local AI Agent That Applies to Jobs for You (Claude Code / Antigravity)
An open-source AI agent from GitHub finds jobs, rates them 0–100, and prepares a tailored resume. Run it locally, for free, in Antigravity!
Most AI-powered job search tools are limited to resume creation. Users still have to copy data into application forms by hand, which takes hours. The open-source AI Job Search framework on GitHub automates the entire process locally. It finds relevant job openings that match the candidate's profile and optimizes the resume.
Purpose and Operating Principle
The framework turns a language model into a personal job-search agent that runs on the user's computer. It performs three tasks:
- finds current job openings on connected job portals;
- removes unreliable and duplicate listings;
- prepares verified job applications.
The author built the tool for their own job search and became fully employed using this process.
According to the author, when tested on 69 tailored applications, the agent received 21 invitations to a first interview. The conversion rate was 29%.
Prompt Injection Protection
Public job descriptions may contain hidden instructions designed to confuse automated parsers. Version 1.7 treats all external descriptions as raw data. Before passing information to an AI agent, the framework filters out non-standard formatting.
Resume Evaluation
The framework evaluates resumes on an objective scale from 0 to 100. Scores are reduced if the resume lacks the required skills listed in the job posting.
Requirements and Setup
- Hardware. The framework runs on standard laptops with 4 GB of RAM. Cloud servers are not required.
- Privacy. Contact data and salary information stay on the local machine and are not sent to external cloud services.
- Runtime environments. Claude Code is not completely free. Alternatives include Codex, Antigravity, and Gemini CLI.
- Instructions. All commands and instructions are provided in the
agents.mdfile in the official repository.
The author used Google Antigravity. The service is free and has daily limits on agent usage.
Model Selection
Antigravity offers the Gemini 3.8 Flash model. It has three thinking modes: low, medium, and high. The medium and high modes produce more accurate results but take more time. The author chose the low mode to speed up testing.
Installation Process
The author gave the agent a prompt to study the repository, check the instructions in agents.md, and execute the official commands. After installation, the agent initialized the skills file and verified all the executable commands that the skill suggests.
Workflow
Stage 1. Data Collection and Cleaning
The agent receives the target roles and salary expectations, extracts skills from the input files, and queries the connected job portals. It then removes duplicates and dangerous instructions that may be embedded in job postings, and compiles a list of current listings to respond to.
Stage 2. Match Assessment
Job postings are evaluated for technical fit and salary requirements. The final score is expressed as a percentage from 0 to 100. Postings older than 21 days receive penalty points. This makes it possible to avoid wasting time on outdated listings.
Stage 3. Document Preparation
A cycle of two agents operates:
- The drafting agent creates a resume and a cover letter tailored to the specific job posting.
- The review agent checks whether all job requirements are met and removes excess keywords.
Profile Setup
The /setup command loads the base resume and saves the target salary and projects to configuration files in JSON format. The files are stored locally in the agent's folder.
The author used a candidate JSON file with the fictional name Private Ray. The profile contains:
- target roles;
- location preferences;
- core skills;
- experience with the current stack;
- a focus on autonomous multi-agent pipelines.
Framework Commands
| Command | Function |
|---|---|
/setup | Uploads the resume and saves the target salary and projects to local JSON files |
/scrap | Finds job vacancies on connected portals, removes duplicates, and saves the results to JSON |
/rank | Evaluates fit, generates a ranking, and identifies skill gaps |
/apply | Creates tailored resume bullet points, prepares an application based on the job posting URL, and compiles a list of questions for a technical interview |
| Job autopilot | Sequentially executes /setup, /scrap, /rank, and /apply |
Commands can be run individually if you need to specify particular parameters.
Framework Operating Rules
- Human responsibility. The agent only prepares documents. The user performs the final submission.
- Data protection. Employment information is stored only in private branches.
- Search modules. Modules can be replaced to search for vacancies on domestic or international platforms.
- Quality over quantity. Weak matches are filtered out in advance to increase the share of applications that employers respond to.
Job Search Results
The agent found four job postings filtered by the "remote work" criterion:
- AI systems engineer, Cognitive Flow Labs. Remote work for the US or Europe. The posting was published 3 days ago on GitHub Rising Jobs. The salary range, required skills, and experience are specified. The agent checked the description for prompt injection instructions and found no hidden commands. Rejected insertions are noted in the report.
- Second and third postings. One of them relates to an architect role.
- AI infrastructure engineer. The fourth posting.
Оценка соответствия
Агент сравнил вакансии с резюме автора и рассчитал итоговый балл. Штрафы назначались за отсутствие обязательных требований.
| Вакансия | Балл | Результат |
|---|---|---|
| AI systems engineer, Cognitive Flow Labs | 96% | Принята |
| Вторая вакансия | Не указан в исходных данных | Принята |
| Третья вакансия | Не указан в исходных данных | Принята |
| AI infrastructure engineer | 68% |
- зарплата полностью соответствует требованиям;
- опыт в предметной области превышает требуемый;
- технические навыки полностью совпадают с резюме;
- штрафы не назначены;
- вакансия опубликована недавно.
Preparing the Application
For the Cognitive Flow Labs position, the agent prepared the following materials:
- Adapted resume. The professional summary, skills section, and descriptions of experience and key projects were revised. Skills from the job posting were moved to the beginning of the document to get past ATS systems.
- Cover letter. The letter expresses interest in the role and describes prior experience and an open-source project the author built. The closing includes the name, current job title, email address, and a link to the portfolio.
- Audit report. A separate agent checked the data in the resume against the information provided by the author.
Preparing all materials took less than two minutes.
Comparison with General-Purpose Methods
General-purpose AI models often lose focus when processing random web text and produce incorrect responses. The framework isolates raw text from system instructions and performs operations in a secure sandbox.
General-purpose models can create résumé bullet points that were not in the candidate's experience. The tool links each bullet point to the user's verified experience.
Testing Results
| Metric | Tool | Manual search |
|---|---|---|
| Invitations to a first interview | 29% (21 out of 69 applications, according to the author) | 3–5% |
| Time to tailor a resume to one job posting | Less than 2 minutes | More than an hour |
All results are verified by a reviewer agent.
Advantages
- Security isolation. An independent sandbox blocks the execution of dangerous instructions in the user's system.
- Honest assessment. The framework lowers scores for gaps in skills. Earlier models inflated compliance metrics.
- Two-agent verification. The system checks for formatting errors and removes skills that the agent added to its experience without confirmation.
Limitations
- Users must review every response before sending it.
- Local job portals require separate parsing plugins.
- The quality of the final documents depends on the completeness and accuracy of the source profile. Career information must be provided precisely and in full from the start.
Introduction and Tool Capabilities
The author presents a tool from GitHub that automates job searching and preparing applications locally, without cloud servers.
- The tool is an open-source framework on GitHub that turns language models into a personal "talent scout."
- It searches for current job postings matching a profile, removes untrusted results, and prepares verified applications.
- The creator used it for a personal job search and got a full-time job.
- Across 69 tailored applications, the agent earned 21 invitations to a first interview, a 29% conversion rate.
- Version 1.7 reads job descriptions as raw data and filters suspicious formatting (prompt injection).
- It runs on ordinary laptops with 4 GB of memory; personal data and salary information do not go to the cloud.
Installation in Google Antigravity
Installation in Google Antigravity via the agents.md file and the official repository, with selection of a model and thinking mode.
- Cloud Claude Code is paid, but you can use Codex, Antigravity, or Gemini CLI instead.
- The instructions are located in the repository's agents.md file.
- Google Antigravity is free, with daily limits on the agent.
- The author chose the Gemini 3.8 Flash model and low thinking mode for fast responses.
- Modes low, medium, and high: the higher the setting, the longer the generation, but the higher the accuracy.
Key Workflow Stages
Description of workflow stages: data acquisition, job scoring, and two-agent document preparation.
- Stage 1: collecting target tools and salary preferences, extracting skills, searching job portals, removing duplicates and malicious instructions.
- Stage 2: evaluating vacancies by technical fit and compensation, scoring 0–100%.
- Vacancies older than 21 days receive penalty points so that time is not wasted on "ghost" job postings.
- Stage 3: the drafter agent adapts the resume and cover letter; the reviewer agent checks requirements and removes unnecessary buzzwords.
Profile Setup and Commands
Setting up the candidate profile via a JSON file and the setup command; overview of the tool's main commands.
- The candidate profile is defined by a JSON file with the working name private ray: target roles, location, core skills, experience, and a focus on autonomous multi-agent pipelines.
- The /setup command loads the resume and saves the target salary and projects to local JSON files in the agents folder.
- The /scrap command finds active job postings, saves them, and removes duplicates.
- The /rank command scores job postings by points, builds a ranking, and identifies skill gaps.
- The /apply command generates tailored resume bullet points, submits the resume via the job posting URL, and prepares questions for the technical interview.
- The job autopilot command runs setup, scrap, rank, and apply sequentially.
Job Search and Safety Rules
Job search by the agent and the tool's safety rules.
- The agent found four job postings; the first is an AI systems engineer at Cognitive Flow Labs, remote from the USA or Europe, posted 3 days ago on GitHub Rising Jobs.
- For each job posting, the required skills, experience, a prompt injection check, and a brief description are listed.
- Rules: the human clicks the final submission themselves; personal data is stored in private branches; search modules allow changing platforms; weak matches are filtered out.
- Remote work is specified for the search.
Evaluation Results and Prepared Documents
Comparison with conventional methods and results of job evaluation and prepared documents.
- Conventional AI models can lose focus due to random web text; the framework isolates raw text and runs in a protected sandbox.
- Manual search yields 3–5% successful responses; manual resume adaptation takes over an hour, while the tool takes less than 2 minutes.
- The first job (Cognitive Flow Labs) scored 96 points: salary, domain experience, and technical skills match, no penalties, the job is new.
- The job with Kubernetes scored 68 points with a 75% filter and was rejected due to lack of a required skill.
- The agent prepared an adapted resume (summary, skills at the top, ATS optimization) and a targeted cover letter; a separate audit agent verified data compliance.
Pros, Limitations, and Conclusion
Pros and limitations of the tool.
- Pros: sandbox isolation, penalties for skill gaps instead of inflated ratings, double verification by agents, and removal of fabricated skills.
- Limitations: every response requires manual review; local job portals need custom scraping plugins.
- The quality of the final documents depends on the honesty and completeness of the source profile data.
- The author asks viewers to leave comments with topics for future videos; the readme with commands will be in the description.
