Lesson: Remaking Hits in Suno AI — Covers and Remixes Through Reversal and Filter Bypass

How to make a cover of a hit in Suno AI: reversing a track, bypassing protection, and working with text. A step-by-step lesson with settings and limits.

The following describes a method for creating covers and remixes of well-known songs in Suno AI, including cases where the service rejects the source audio or lyrics. This material is provided for informational purposes only. Using the described method may infringe copyright, so the author warns of the risks and of the user's responsibility.

Legal Restrictions

  • The material is intended for personal use only.
  • The described actions may lead to your account being blocked on Suno and your social media accounts being blocked for copyright infringement.
  • The user bears full responsibility for the consequences of applying these instructions in accordance with the laws of their country.
  • Using the results for commercial purposes is prohibited, including uploading tracks to streaming platforms to earn income. Such actions are prosecuted in all countries.

Stage 1. Preparing the Source Audio

Reversing the Track

The track needs to be played backwards, from the end.

  1. Open an audio editor on your computer or an online service. The author uses the mp3cut.net service (the section for working with audio).
  2. Select the "Reverse Audio" tool.
  3. Upload the file and, if necessary, specify the required fragment.
  4. Download the processed file.

Changing the Speed and Pitch

If Suno rejects the track after reversal, the original track is modified in speed and pitch.

  • Recommended stretch: from 20% to 30%. Stretching means slowing down the tempo.
  • Pitch change: by one or two semitones.

Example from the instructions: the track "Runaway" by Kanye West was sped up by 20%, which corresponds to a coefficient of 1.2. The pitch was also raised by 20%. Then the track was reversed, saved, and downloaded.

According to the author, in Suno version 6 the service began rejecting files less often. In 90% of cases, the track uploaded without additional changes.

Alternative Source

If uploading is still impossible, you can find a cover of this song on YouTube, download it, reverse it, and upload the resulting file. According to the author, problems usually did not arise at this stage.

Stage 2. Uploading the Track and Bypassing the Reverse Restriction

Suno does not allow reversing an already uploaded track. The workaround is done through the Add vocal function.

  1. Upload the prepared track to Suno.
  2. Open the uploaded track, click the three dots, and select "Edit."
  3. In the dropdown list, select "Add vocal."
  4. Check that vocal editing is selected in the menu.

After this, the track is ready for working with text.

Stage 3. Text Preparation

Obtaining and cleaning the text

  1. Find the original lyrics of the song.
  2. Remove markup: the names of verses and choruses, as well as English labels in square brackets (verse, chorus, pre-chorus, etc.). Only the performer's words should remain in the text.

Reversing the text

  1. Paste the text into a text-reversal service. The author uses texttools.com/tools/reversetext.
  2. Click "Reverse" and copy the result.

You can also use a neural network to process the text. The author recommends the Chinese model DeepSeek, since in his observation Western models more often refuse requests related to authorship and texts of well-known performers.

Stage 4. Generating the Reverse Track

  1. Paste the reversed text into the lyrics field in Suno.
  2. Clear the style field of the styles suggested by Suno.
  3. Set the generation parameters according to the table below.
  4. Enter the track title and start generation.
  5. Suno creates several variants. Select the variant that is most similar to the uploaded track.
  6. Open the selected variant, click the three dots, select "Edit," and use the "Reverse" function.
  7. Delete the text, leaving only the track. Make sure reverse is enabled.
  8. Click "Create." The author creates several variants and selects the one closest to the original.

The result is a track that is reversed back and resembles the original.

Stage 5. Returning to the Original Speed and Pitch

The track obtained in the previous step retains the speed and pitch changes made in Stage 1. These need to be restored to their original values.

  1. Open the track and select "Edit."
  2. Select the Adjust Speed tool. In the Russian-language interface, it may be called "Управление скоростью" (Speed Control).
  3. Set the changes to be the reverse of those made earlier:
    • pitch: -20, since it was raised by 20% during preparation;
    • speed: according to the author, approximately 0.7.
  4. Click "Create."

According to the author's assessment, after these operations the duration and pitch of the track match the original. However, the sound quality decreases. Distortions may occur in the vocal parts, and the neural network itself may generate lyrics that the author described as strange.

Stage 6. Creating a Cover with the Original Lyrics

Suno does not accept the original song lyrics directly. To get around the filter, invisible characters are added to the text.

Adding invisible characters

  1. Send DeepSeek the prompt: "Insert the U+200B character between all characters of the text."
  2. Paste the original song lyrics after the prompt.
  3. Copy the result.

For the reader, the text does not change. For Suno, it becomes a different text.

Generating the cover

  1. Paste the resulting text into Suno's lyrics field.
  2. Choose the version closest to the original.
  3. Click the three dots, select the "Remix" menu, and in the dropdown choose "Cover."
  4. Check the settings:
    • task: cover;
    • the desired track is selected for remixing;
    • the lyrics field contains the text from DeepSeek.
  5. In the style field, enter a prompt describing the desired style.

If you need to correct pronunciation or stress, you can change the words in the text or write in capital letters the syllables where the stress should fall.

Recommended Generation Settings

ParameterReverse Track StageCover Stage
Weirdness015%
Style influence050%
Audio influence100%80%
Variety0 (off)Medium value

The "Variety" parameter is not displayed as a percentage. When the slider is moved to the left, it is displayed as off.

At the reverse track stage, the goal of the settings is to obtain a result that is as close as possible to the uploaded audio. At the cover stage, you can change the settings to obtain a different style.

Additional Information

As of October 2026, according to the author, the described method works. Changes to the service's settings may make some of the steps obsolete.

Audio preparation: reversing and changing speed

The track is reversed in the online editor mp3cut.net. If Suno recognizes and blocks the track, it is stretched in duration and its pitch is changed.

  • Tool for reversing: the mp3cut.net audio editor, the "Reverse audio" section (website mp3cut.net/ru)
  • After reversing, the sixth Suno model complains less often; in 90% of cases the track passes without changes
  • If the track is recognized, the original is slowed down by 20–30% and its pitch is changed by 1–2 steps
  • Example: the track Runaway by Kanye West, changed by 20% (coefficient 1.2) in speed and pitch
  • If the track does not upload, find a cover on YouTube, download it, reverse it, and upload it

Bypassing Protection on an Uploaded Track

In Suno (the text mentions Smule), an uploaded track cannot be "unflipped" back, so it is worked around via the "add vocal" function in the editing menu.

  • After uploading a track, click the three dots and select "Edit"
  • In the dropdown list, select "Add vocal" (add vocal)
  • Make sure "Edit vocal" is selected
  • An uploaded track cannot be reversed back: protection is enabled

Text Preparation: Reversal

Copy the original lyrics without markup (verse, chorus, etc.), reverse them at texttools.com/tools/reversetext, and paste the result into Suno.

  • Remove markup from the text: verse, chorus, pre-chorus
  • To reverse the text, use texttools.com/tools/reversetext or the Chinese neural network Deep Sync (Western models more often complain about authorship)
  • Paste the reversed text into the song lyrics field in Suno

Generating a Clone via Suno Settings

Generation settings are configured so that Suno creates an almost exact clone of the uploaded track without creative additions.

  • The style field is cleared of styles suggested by Suno
  • The “Weirdness” slider is set to zero
  • The “Style Influence” slider is set to zero
  • The “Audio Influence” slider is set to 100%
  • The “Variety” slider is turned off (shifted left)
  • A pair of variations is generated; the one most similar to the uploaded track is selected, and the “Reverse” function is applied

Returning to Original Speed and Pitch

The resulting track is returned to its original speed and pitch: use Adjust Speed and change the pitch by -20%.

  • The Adjust Speed function (in the Russian version, «Управление скоростью»)
  • Initially the speed was increased by 20%, and the pitch was changed by 20%
  • To return, the pitch is changed by -20%, and the speed is about 0.7
  • After returning, the track is close to the original in duration and pitch

Quality problems and text filter bypass

Sound quality after manipulations can be low, especially in vocals. For a remix with the original lyrics, Suno blocks the text, so an invisible character is inserted.

  • Sound quality after manipulations is low, and vocals sometimes contain "profaks" (distortions)
  • Suno does not pass through the original song lyrics
  • Filter bypass: in DeepSpeech, enter the prompt "Insert a U+200B character between all characters of the text" and paste the song lyrics
  • To a human the result looks the same, but to Suno it is a different text

Creating a Cover with Original Lyrics

From the selected variant, create a cover via the "Remix" → "Cover" menu, check the task, track, and lyrics, then set the style and settings.

  • Through the three dots, select "Remix", then "Cover"
  • Check: the task is cover, the correct track is selected, and the processed lyrics are pasted into the lyrics window
  • Approximate settings: style influence 50%, audio influence 80%, variety at center, first slider around 15%
  • In the style field, write a prompt with the desired style

Conclusion and Restrictions

The method works as of October 2026. You can change words and place stress using capital letters. Use is for personal purposes only; commercial use and streaming are prohibited.
